Family Fun This Fall

So it might not quite feel like fall weather yet, but the fall fun is already well underway! And we love all of the family fun there is to be had during the fall. One of the best parts of living in Toronto is there is so much to do in the city, or just a short drive away. Whether you have a brand new baby or your kids are barrelling towards those teenage years, you can definitely find something the whole family will enjoy.

  1. The Baby Show – September 27-28, 2025

If you are expecting or have a little one, this is definitely one of those fall events you don’t want to miss. With a line-up of fantastic speakers (make sure you check out Dr. Christine Palmay!), contests and giveaways, and often some great specials on must-have baby items, this is worth the trip.

2. Halloween Night of Lights – Thursdays thru Sundays until Nov 1

Perfect for those folks who love Halloween, this has been a staple family activity in the west end for the last five years. With a dazzling maze of lights, thousands of pumpkins, midway rides, and more, there will definitely be something for everyone here. Looking for photo opportunities for your little one? You will definitely find them here. There are even some dates that are dog-friendly, so you can get pictures with the whole family!

3. Markham Fair – Oct 2-5, 2025

Who doesn’t love a Fall Fair? From music to monster trucks, demonstrations and food trucks, fireworks and even an appearance by Bluey and Bingo, this weekend looks like a whole lot of fun. Check out their calendar of events because not everything is happening every day. If you have a toddler or young child, definitely check out the Super Dogs. The show is a lot of fun and you can meet the dogs after.

4. Apple Picking – check individuals farms for dates, times, and prices

I take my family apple picking every year, even though my kids are getting older. For some reason, they eat more apples if they were the ones who picked them! Pingles Harvest Fest is our go-to and has been for years. On the weekends there is fantastic food, music, and activities for the kids to enjoy in addition to the pick-your-own fields (it’s not just apples anymore!). But there are also so many amazing apple farms in the GTA region. Check out Chudleigh’s if you are looking for something in the west, Applewood Farm if you are looking to head north, or Pingles in the east.

5. Riverdale Farm – open 7 days a week

A farm in the heart of the city is a great way to feel like a getaway without actually having to go far. Take your little one to check out the animals, have a picnic in the green spaces, or enjoy some of their special fall activities. There are daily demonstrations, trails to hike and enjoy the changing leaves, and sometimes craft programs.

6. Catch a Game – see schedule

Now that the Blue Jays are headed for the playoffs, we know there will be baseball for a few more weeks! Games with little ones can be amazing (just bring some activities in case they get bored).

We know there are a million things to do in the city. Museums, the AGO, indoor playgrounds, and more are available all year round. But it is nice to be outside and enjoy the great fall weather before we are all stuck inside avoiding the snow and sleet for a few months. And some things can end up becoming an annual family tradition!
